Guest 1: Jennifer Temel, MD
Dr. Jennifer Temel is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Co-Director of the Cancer Outcomes Research and Education Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, and co-leader of the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center Outcomes Research Program
Dr. Temel has more than 20 years of clinical and research experience. She and her team conducted groundbreaking research focused on moving palliative care upstream in the outpatient setting and delivering it throughout a patient’s illness. Because of her impactful work, all national organizations now recommend early palliative care as the standard of care for patients with serious illnesses and cancer.
Guest 2: Joseph Greer, PhD
Dr. Joseph Greer is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School and a Co-Director of the Cancer Outcomes Research & Education Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. In his clinical work, Dr. Greer uses CBT to support patients with cancer and their families. His research endeavors focus on developing and testing supportive care interventions to improve the quality of life and care delivery for patients with cancer in collaboration with nurses, palliative care physicians, psychiatrists, and oncologists.
Guest 3: Vicki Jackson, MD
Dr. Vicki Jackson is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Chief of the Division of Palliative Care at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Jackson is a palliative care lead investigator. She has worked closely with Dr. Temel on assessing the impact of early integration of palliative care on patients’ quality of life and depression. Her research also focuses on describing palliative care communication approaches and delivering a communication curriculum about prognostic awareness.
